Back Pain Treatment in Leeds – Expert Physiotherapy for Lasting Relief
Your recovery powered by Physio Action
Don’t Live With Back Pain
Most back pain responds quickly to the right combination of hands-on treatment, targeted exercise and clear advice – but the longer you leave it, the longer recovery tends to take.
Our Chartered physiotherapists have spent 25+ years treating back pain in Leeds – from athletes with disc injuries to office workers with postural pain, new mums recovering after birth, and anyone whose back has simply stopped cooperating. We diagnose the cause, explain it in plain English, and most patients feel a meaningful difference within 2–4 sessions.
Back Pain Conditions We Treat
- Lower back pain – mechanical and muscular pain, often triggered by lifting, sitting or with no clear event
- Postural & desk-related back pain – long screen hours, slouched sitting, neck and upper-back tension
- Sports-related back pain – for runners, golfers, cyclists, rowers and gym-goers (see our Sport Physio Leeds clinic)
- Pregnancy & postnatal back pain – including Mummy MOT assessments
- Degenerative back pain – arthritis, disc disease, spinal stenosis
- Acute injury & whiplash – early intervention significantly speeds recovery
Sciatica Treatment in Leeds
Pain that travels from the lower back into the buttock, hamstring, calf or foot – often with pins and needles, numbness or weakness. Most sciatica improves significantly with conservative physiotherapy: manual therapy, nerve-glide exercises and graded strengthening. If imaging is needed, we can arrange a private MRI within days.
Slipped Disc / Disc Herniation
A slipped or bulging disc can cause back pain, leg pain, or both. The good news: most disc injuries heal without surgery. We settle the irritation, restore movement and rebuild strength – working alongside Orthopaedic and Sport & Exercise Medicine Consultants when surgical input is needed.
When Should You See a Physio About Back Pain?
Book an assessment if pain has lasted more than 2–3 weeks, is affecting sleep or training, travels into your leg, or keeps coming back.
Seek urgent medical attention (A&E or 111) if you experience loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness around the saddle area, severe progressive leg weakness, or back pain with fever and unexplained weight loss. Rare, but they require immediate review.
