I was referred to Stephen by a knee surgeon who had evaluated my knees following a running injury. The injury turned out to be minor, but the surgeon said I would benefit from certain types of strengthening exercises which Stephen could help me with. Stephen evaluated how my legs and lower joints were operating and concluded that my knees are mostly fine, but agreed with the surgeon that strengthening would help, albeit with a slightly different kind of strengthening. Stephen explained his conclusions using video evidence of me bending my knees under weight, and provided an excellent set of exercises that I could do at home. Crucially, Stephen listened to what I said about my activities and previous (mostly unsuccessful) attempts to add strength training to my routine. He provided a small set of exercises that I could do only once or twice a week, making it far more likely that I will actually manage to remember what the exercises are, and to keep up with them. Throughout, Stephen backed his suggestions up with a clear grasp of developments in the relevant science, and I left feeling I had gotten the best possible advice.
